The town of Marmaris is located
at the meeting place of the Aegean and Mediterranean
seas, on the world's largest natural harbour,
surrounded by pine-clad hills. Situated in southwest
Turkey, in the province of Mugla, Marmaris is one of
Turkey's biggest tourist resorts.
Marmaris is a year-round home for many foreigners, a large number of whom have yachts in the modern
700-berth marina.
The town boundaries enclose and area of 86 000 hectares, 65 000 of which are forested. The beauty of
Marmaris stems from this just as much as from the natural harbour. |

An impressive medieval castle built by the Knights of
Rhodes guards the entrance to Bodrum's dazzling blue bay, in which the
Aegean and the Mediterranean Seas meet. The town's charm is well-known,
attracting a diverse population of vacationers who stroll along its long
palm-lined waterfront, while elegant yachts crowd the marina.
Not far from town, you can swim in absolutely clear, tideless, warm seas. Underwater divers, especially, will want to explore the numerous
reefs, caves and majestic rock formations. The waters offer up multicolored sponges of all shapes and sizes, octopi and an immense variety of other aquatic life. |
